Gday, my name is David James Day born july 27 1962 in Macksville NSW and I am looking for information from Ireland regarding my great grandfather Patrick Day who died in 1927 in Bowraville.
It states on his gravestone that he was a "native of County Clare Limerick Ireland" or words to that effect.... so I guess he was born in County Clare Limerick?
He was married in 1870s I think in the Macleay Valley NSW to Mary. I believe he emigrated in the 1860s to Australia and may have initially settled in the Kangaroo Valley area of NSW. I also would like register and join the clan.
In the 1970s my mother won a viewers prize on an Australian TV show The great temptation. it included a family genealogical trace on the Day name and a family crest. The reams of paperwork that came with the prize are still yet to be found(although I remain hopeful

) and my mother has passed.
I have the crest wihich is a Blue and Yellow shield with 3 stars and has the latin words.. sit itur ad astra "such is the way to immortality".
I was wondering how much I can trust the information if I do find the paperwork that went with the 1970s search.
I also have an unusual pilgrimage story to share with you concerning my mother Daphne Mary Day.
Unsure whether I should post it here or wait until i join and have access to the other forums cheers Dave Day
